Please join us in the upcoming MGA Season and help restore its outstanding tradition. We are excited to announce a number of changes that we are certain will make for a memorable year. For those of you new to The Village Golf Club or the MGA, we’ve answered some basic questions below:
1. Who can join the MGA? MGA membership is open to all male golfers over age 18 who are members in good standing of The Village Golf Club or are residents of Panorama Village who have an established USGA Handicap Index. Additional golfing fees will apply to residents of Panorama Village who are not members of the club.
2. What does it cost to join? Season dues for 2009 are $25 per member. The MGA hosts monthly tournaments on second-Saturdays and will sponsor and host additional events throughout the season, including Club Championship, Member-Member, Par-Tee, and Fall Classic. As a member of the MGA, you will be entitled to play in all of these events, four of which will feature lunch banquets after golf (about 1 per quarter). MGA members also receive bag tags and season handbooks, and will pay discounted entry fees on MGA-sponsored events. Monthly tournaments will cost either $10 or $15 per player based on format, 100% of which will be distributed as prizes for the event.
3. If prize money is collected for each event, what will my dues be used for? In 2007, MGA dues purchased new range balls and baskets, and carried over $1250 to be used in 2008. Beginning with the 2008 season, the MGA is embarking on an ambitious program to renovate the driving range. The entire project will be taken on in three stages where our dues will be matched with club funds and funds raised from other avenues (sponsorship, city support, fundraising events, etc). The driving range renovations will be a much needed upgrade to the club that will benefit all members and leave an indelible mark on the club from our MGA for many years to come.
4. I’m interested in joining, what do I do now? Joining the MGA is easy – submit your completed enrollment form and check for your dues to one of our committee members or in one of the MGA boxes around the club (golf shop, membership office and bar). Enrollment is entirely managed by our committee, completely separate from your club membership.
We hope to see 150 members in our MGA this year, and many more in the future. MGA Handbooks will be available by December 15 and will describe the entire season in great detail. Please make the right decision and support The Village Golf Club’s MGA by enrolling today.
